Multilingual newspaper launched today

30.08.2012. Key people from the Free Press Societies of Canada, Denmark, and Sweden today launch Dispatch International. The newspaper will initially carry material in English, German, Danish, and Swedish (click here to navigate to the Swedish presentation). Quoting from Why 'Dispatch International'?:

What we have come to call the “the mainstream media” have deteriorated to a point where they clearly constitute a threat to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

The fourth estate was supposed to act as an independent eye on the legislative, judicial and executive powers but has in fact become a part of the ruling elite. Effectively blinded, it no longer considers it its duty, or even sees its way to criticise or expose the lies and crimes of that ruling elite, given that so doing would also expose its own.

One survey after another shows that the vast majority of Western journalists suffer from groupthink, a set of attitudes and beliefs that dictate their approach to their work. They do not seek to inform the public about what is happening in the real world but instead, want to educate and mould the citizens to conform to this same set of preconceived notions of what ought to be.

Vast swathes of reality are brushed under the carpet because the mainstream media consider them outside their collective beliefs and thus antithetical to the multiculturalist, cultural relativist, "green" and anti-Judean-Christian ideologies they strives to impose on the public.

This cannot be allowed to stand. Here in the 21st century, it is time to publish a real newspaper.

On 30 August we will launch a test issue of Dispatch International. It will appear as a print paper in Danish and Swedish with e-versions in Danish, Swedish, English and German.

More languages will be added as the clamor rises.

If all goes according to plan, we will start regular, weekly publication on Thursday, January 3, 2013.

Our chief editors are Ingrid Carlqvist, former news editor of the Swedish daily Kvällsposten, and Lars Hedegaard, former editor-in-chief of the Copenhagen daily Information. Ingrid is Chair of the Swedish Free Press Society and Lars of the Danish Free Press Society.

Together with Canadian free speech advocate and board member of the Canadian Free Press Society Bjorn Larsen, we have set up a company that is protected from any attempt at a hostile take-over.

We can neither be bought, nor will we be dependent on public subsidies or advertising income.

Dispatch International, then, will in no way be the mouthpiece of elites. It is your paper. We have no other purpose than to keep you informed of all the news. Not just the news that the mainstream media deem “fit” to print, but rather all the news that is vitally important to print – but rarely is.

Let us make this a success.

All best

Ingrid Carlqvist
Lars Hedegaard
Bjorn Larsen

«A problematic verdict»

26.08.2012. While I think it would have been a mistake to 'acquit' Breivik on account of his alleged insanity (and sentence him to psychiatric ward), I do agree with my colleague at Document.no, Hans Rustad, that there are indeed some troubling aspects of the Oslo Court's verdicts. Rustad begins his article thus:

The court found Anders Behring Breivik sane, and sentenced him to custody for 21 years. In a way they tried to square the circle.

There was public clamor for him to be found sane and accountable for his actions, while at the same time he showed erratic behavior in court that lent credence to the first psychiatric report, that found him insane.

Confinement for 21 years was the prison-version of compulsory psychiatric treatment: it is also the only way that he can be kept behind bars for the rest of his life, within the present law.

But in order to reach such a verdict the court has accepted a set of premises that are both judicially and politically contentious.

Nyborg et al reply to Ron Unz

12.08.2012. Last month Ron Unz published the article Race, IQ, and Wealth - What the facts tell us about a taboo subject (The American Conservative). This has elicited replies from professor Helmuth Nyborg and others.

HonestThinking is dedicated and committed to the art of thinking honestly. Yet honest thinking is not the same as true thinking, for it is possible to think honestly, but be mistaken. For the same reason, honest thinking is not identical with objective thinking either. Honest thinking is striving to get things right. This involves being truthful about whatever one publishes, but just as importantly, it involves an uncompromising dedication never to suppress relevant data, even when data collides with dearly held prejudices. Such an approach may sometimes cause hurtful revisions in one’s belief system. That’s what HonestThinking is all about! Read the entire manifesto.

The current European immigration and integration policy is profoundly disrespectful of both Muslims and Islam, because it is built on the tacit assumption that the Muslims will become like us. One claims to have respect for Islam and for Muslims, but one also expects Muslims to give up their orthodox faith when they come here. At the same time one is assuming that Islam will be reformed and modernized as soon as the Muslims become integrated and understand and appreciate how superior our Western culture is compared to their own. This is cultural shauvinism and arrogance indeed! The unspoken premise for this scenario is that Western socities are superior to Islam. Read more.

Human rights and democracy are under pressure. One threat comes from the Western world, in the form of lack of or dishonest thinking. There exists a peculiar Western "tolerance" which is so "tolerant" that it even tolerates totalitarian or anti-democratic ideologies. A tacit assumption underlying such an attitude is that all cultures, world views, and religions are really equally good. As a consequence of this assumption one is cut off from the possibility of critically examining the above mentioned ideologies. Read more.
